Community Involvement

At Harvey Developments, we are deeply rooted in the communities where we operate, with our employees hailing from those very places. It is our utmost priority to foster robust and thriving communities.

Through our Corporate Social Responsibility programs, we have actively participated in various sponsored community development projects, seeking partnerships with organizations that align with our core values. Here are a few of the initiatives we have supported:

Mates in Construction NT:

Every year, 190 Australians employed in the construction industry tragically take their own lives, resulting in the loss of a construction worker to suicide every second day. It is alarming that construction workers are six times more likely to die by suicide than in a workplace accident. Particularly concerning is the statistic showing that young workers in the industry are over two times more likely to end their own lives compared to other young Australian men.

Recognizing the importance of mental health awareness, Harvey Developments NT places a significant emphasis on fostering a workplace environment where discussions about mental health are encouraged. This commitment is exemplified through our provision of General Awareness Training by MATES in Construction NT, equipping our workforce with practical tools to contribute to suicide prevention efforts.

MATES in Construction NT, an esteemed charity organization established by the construction industry, is dedicated to offering suicide prevention initiatives through community development programs on construction sites. The organization also extends support to workers in distress through case management services and a 24/7 helpline.

As an Industry Partner of MATES in Construction, Harvey Developments NT actively engages in enhancing the skills of our employees in mental health awareness. Through participation in training programs such as 'General Awareness Training' and 'Connector' training facilitated by MATES, we are committed to creating a supportive and proactive workplace culture.

Two Cup Race Tennant Creek:

The company actively backs diverse local industries through sponsorships. Harvey Developments NT proudly served as the Silver Sponsor of the 2021 Two Cup Race in Tennant Creek. In addition to sponsorship, Harvey Developments employees generously volunteered their time and machinery to assist in event preparation, including utilizing a Skid steer to grade the track.

Aged Care Facility – Tennant Creek

Harvey Developments NT collaborated with the Barkly Regional Council to construct a dedicated cycle track for the youngsters at the Tennant Creek Aged Care Facility. We generously provided all necessary labor and machinery for this initiative at no cost. This endeavor exemplifies our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve, demonstrating our dedication to enhancing the local area.

Alice Springs Athletics Club/Desert Sports Foundation

These exceptional grassroots organizations are helping to train our future Olympic athletes, and Harvey Developments is delighted to stand behind them by providing support for equipment purchases, coach training, and travel expenses for aspiring athletes attending athletics competitions beyond Alice Springs. Committed to promoting healthy and active lifestyles for our youth, Harvey Developments values align closely with these clubs.

Gap Community Childcare Centre

In November 2020, Harvey Developments NT acquired and set up a brand-new adventure playground for the children at the Gap Community Childcare Centre. The playground's cost was around $6500, and we also contributed labor to assemble the structure at no cost, making a total contribution of approximately $10,000. The play area has become a delightful space for the children to engage in imaginative play, interact with one another, and enhance their motor skills, social abilities, and self-assurance. We thoroughly enjoyed participating in this initiative and eagerly anticipate collaborating with the center again on upcoming play areas for the children.
